The Days Of Our Lives

The past...the present...the future!

An Experience

I finished a book today. Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood. I had earlier read his collection of short stories 'The Elephant Vanishes' just out of namesake curiosity. Then I started reading Norwegian Wood at a book store and just couldn't put it down.

The story is about a young Japanese boy tracing his college days. The entire novel revolves around him - his lonely life, his don't-give-a-damn attitude towards life, his confusion about love, the two women in his life, and everything else. Its the way his simple life is conveyed in such artistic prose which bring a life of its own into this book. Never has ordinary life been so beautifully written. And all this praise coming from me - a Stephen King fan - is really something I suppose. Truly an experience! :)

lovely book ... norwegian wood ... liked it both for the writing, the pathos in the story and the experience of knowing about a different culture
